- Description
- I recreated Kappabashi’s kitchenware street using receipts. By employing the tabular structure of invoices, I sought to express both the chaos and the order of the shops, deconstructing the space not only visually but also through other senses, and conveying it as a narrative. By depicting the uniqueness of each store, the goods and the movements of the shop staff seem to come alive, giving birth to new stories within the grid of the forms. Even on receipts that remain unwritten, the atmosphere of everyday life already lingers. I merely borrowed this force, densely recording the world I saw in Kappabashi, and afterwards stood back as an observer, watching the results that emerged.
