- 正如小说家帕斯卡尔·基尼亚尔所写的“耳朵没有眼皮”,人类无法完全阻挡传入的声音。因此,人们通过“听而不闻”的行为来屏蔽不必要的信息。即使是对本国语言熟悉的我们,也会在脑内语言处理过程中,有意识地关注或排除混杂在人群中的声音。 本作品的创意,源自于一种假想: “如果大脑中负责语言处理的韦尼克区(Wernicke区)里,存在对语言产生反应的‘虫子’会怎样?” 这些“虫子”会附着于听到的声音,若是语言则将其转化为文字,但对于被人们有意忽略的声音或含糊不清的语言,则会使文字形成不完全。为了表现这些形成不完全的文字(即46个平假名),我使用了被称为“磁性流体”的液态物质,这是一种对磁力敏感的液体,既具有液体特有的流畅动态,又能被磁力控制。当磁铁靠近时,液体便呈现出如细胞分裂般生动的蠕动。通过捕捉现代化学物质与文字起源时期共有的“蠕动”状态,让文字“生成”,尝试回溯文字的原始符号形态。借此,我们将获得对文字生成这一高速时代现象的新认知。

- As the novelist Pascal Quignard once wrote, “Ears have no eyelids.” Humans cannot completely block out incoming sound. Instead, we rely on the act of “hearing without listening” to filter unnecessary information. Even in our native language, during the brain’s language-processing, we consciously attend to or eliminate voices mixed within the crowd. The concept of this video work arises from a hypothesis: What if there were “bugs” in the brain’s Wernicke’s area—the region responsible for language processing—that reacted to language? These “bugs” would latch onto sounds, converting them into text when they recognize language. But for sounds people intentionally ignore or for unclear speech, the resulting text would remain incomplete. To represent these incomplete characters (the 46 hiragana), I used a liquid substance called ferrofluid. This material, sensitive to magnetic force, combines the fluidity of a liquid with the controllability of magnetism. When a magnet approaches, the liquid undulates vividly, like cell division in motion. By capturing this shared “wriggling” quality between modern chemical substances and the primordial origins of written characters, I sought to let text “emerge,” tracing back to its original symbolic form. In doing so, this work offers a new perspective on the phenomenon of language generation in our accelerated age.
